Those quotes on the board are very true. All three of them say that nobody really minds the hassles of spring time because they are just happy that spring is here. I really dont mind rain one bit because I know that there isnt a foot of snow outside or that when I walk out I will be freezing my tail off. Spring is a great time of year ad it is a really nice change of pace from cold/boring winter.

My favorite food when I was young was my moms chicken wings she would make every once in a blue moon. I would have liked them alot if she made them more often but I think I loved them because it was such a special occasion when she made them. That is still my favorite food today because she still only makes them once in a long while.
I would say that my tastes have changed since I was younger. I remember the first time I tried A1 steak sauce and I hated it. Now today I cant eat any type of meat without it. There are als0 many foods that I like now that I didnt like as a little kid.

The times when my opinion really matters is probably in the fall and sumer time when I work selling sweet corn and picking pumkins. My boss isnt around the farm alot so he counts on me alot of the time to keep track what has to be done that day. If we run into a problem I am usually the one who decides what to do. The kids I work with have a say in everything we do but they usually just turn to me if something goes wrong or if they dont know what to do.

That story on the board made me think of a kid that was in my class in 5th grade. His name was Mike and he would always get angry and flip out in class. Everyone thought it was scary and he was off his rocker. Personally I loved watching him get all ticked off and flip his deck or throw a chair at someone, it was like a little break from class for some entertainment. His normal routine was the teacher would tell him to do something that he didnt want to do so he would drop a couple of F bombs and then flip his desk and run out of the room. I think he also did this a little bit the next year in sixth grade. He eventually moved away and people forgot about him pretty quick.

That comic on the board is true. I think everyone is ready for spring but when it warms up a little and you think "Spring is here", the next day it snows and the temp drops 20 degrees. That is kind of the crappy thing about Minnesota weather, is that it is pretty unpredictable. What is predictable about it though is that you know we will always have hot summers and cold winters, that never changes. It will be nice when spring finally arrives.

A movie that changed my outlook on war was "Saving Private Ryan" because it had some really strong scenes in it about World War 2 and how it was so brutal. An example is when the mother gets a message that all three of her sons had died in the war and is really devestated. Another is when the american soldier is sitting downstairs and can hear the other American soldier fighting a german soldier to the death. This scene is tough because the guy just stands and listens to it because he is too scared to go and help, so the american ends up getting stabbed to death and the german sees that the scared soldier is harmless so he leaves him alone. After I had seen this movie, I realized that World War 2 was a brutal and cutthroat war where a ton of men died and their family had to hear about it back home.

Name a movie, book, or song that changed my life for good or bad is really tough to answer. I can't think of anything like that that has changed my life. I guess watching movies like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre made my life a little bit better because I could just be happy I am not in that situation. Also good music on radiostations make life better because you can listen to good music in the car. I really don't read too many books so I don't have a book that has changed my world. Other than those examples, I can't think of anything like that that has had an effect on my life.

I think we are suppose to write about the little comic strip on the board. It is saying that you think of yourself as a complex human being who has feelings and a professor thinks of you as a brain on a stick. I dont think all proffesors think of their students like this but I know there are some out there who do. Proffesors who think of their students like that dont bother me at all because they are there to do their job and the student is there to do his job and they shouldnt friends, they are suppose to be a teacher teaching the student. It is nice though when you get a teacher that is fun because usually that means the homework is a little bit easier.

Biggest Pet Peeve

I really have never given much thought to my pet peeves, but now that I think about it I can think of one that bugs me. It is when people leave their trash on the ground and walk away and forget about it. I am kind of a neat freak in a way and when people do that, especially my little sister, it bugs the hell out of me. I keep asking her why she does that and she doesnt give me a good answer. I think she does it just to tick me off. I guess I wouldnt go to great lengths to avoid it because I dont live at my house anymore so whatever stinky trash she leaves laying around is not my problem, and if it happened somewhere I was living, then I guess I would learn to live with it. Another couple pet peeves are lazy bums who dont do anything and expect people to just give them stuff and people who are so cheap that they wouldnt even drive a couple miles down the road if their friend was freezing to death just because gas is too expensive.

I am guessing that we have to write about that comment on the board which says "Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten." I really dont know what that means. Maybe it means that when you learn something in school and eventually end up forgetting it there is always school that you can go to and learn it all back. That would be my best guess at what that quote means. If that is what it means then that is a pretty good quote because I remember in high school every summer I would forget what I had learned that past year. For example my little sister will come home with some math from a class I had taken before and I wouldnt have a clue on what to do.

what I expect this semester

What I expect from this course is mostly just to write a lot, read, and sharpen up my writing skills. Other than that I cant really think of anything else I expect from this course. I think the teacher can help me out with sharpening up my skills and also teaching me a little more about how to navigate around a computer a little bit better. Finally what I expect from myself is to get everything done and turned in on time, write my papers well, and most importantly get a good final grade for this class. That is mostly what I expect out of this class, the teacher and myself.

Who I am

My name is Andy Lambert and I am 18 years old. My first job was when I was about 14 and I started picking pumpkins and a bunch of other stuff at a pumpkin patch, where I still work today selling sweet corn for them. Now I work at Grain Millers in the winter time and the first half of summer and I sell sweet corn the second half of summer. I have two parents, two sisters, and a dog. Something interesting that has happened to my family and I is that we all survived a huge tornado that passes by saint peter when I was 8 years old. We were all in the basement and watched the whole thing take our little house away. Another little fact about me is that I have only been to Wisconsin in my life. I really don't know what else to write about myself because I am pretty boring.
